Position Summary

The Dir, Finance is a key executive-level role responsible for managing and driving business and financial performance for CDK. The role will report to the VP, Finance and partner extremely closely with the Senior Leadership Team. Specific activities will include direct management of a financial team responsible for: Financial Planning and Analysis, commercial analysis, operational reviews, pricing, insight for customer contracts and negotiations, recommendations/proposals of business expansion, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Order to Cash, and Business Information Systems. These functions include leading strategic initiatives, planning, budgeting, forecasting, preparation of GAAP based financial statements and consolidations, planning and controlling costs in all designated/assigned business units, developing models, dashboards, and business intelligence to forecast, measure, providing value-added financial insight to the business leaders and report business results. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the business and finance to influence, coach, collaborate, and challenge their leaders.


Position Responsibilities & Essential functions

  • Oversee financial results through monthly forecasting, monthly close, analytics/reporting and present to Senior Leadership
  • Create and maintain accurate forecast models and risk/opportunity assessments of the businesses within the portfolio and ensure Senior Leadership are constantly informed of our financial position.
  • Influence Senior Leadership by going further than analyzing variances; rather look for trends, opportunities, and risks both internal and externally and interpret and communicate these in a concise and succinct manner that allows Senior Leadership to make better decisions.
  • Develops and drives standardized analytics to measure business performance and return on investment for Senior Leadership
  • Lead key financial processes such as annual operating plan and budgeting, Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reviews to the leadership team, and the financial development of both short and long term strategic plans.
  • Develop appropriate financial targets and be able to discuss and support these to the Senior Management Team. Take responsibility for the achievement of annual financial targets and goals.
  • Maintain an awareness of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their potential impact on the Business's policies and operations and recommends measures to capitalize on, or protect the business from these changing conditions.
  • Oversee preparation of business cases to support key strategic investment decisions, critique assumptions with management, and partner to implement as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all CDK financial policies and conventions across the Business Unit, ensuring accurate reporting and communication of financial information and messaging.
  • Develop excellent relationships across the wider CDK Corporation, including key Senior Leadership players and senior financial managers in other CDK Divisions and business units, and the external community
  • Be an agent for change and lead by example
  • Lead and direct a team of people managers with an emphasis on tactical alignment with Senior Leadership’s strategic vision
  • Cultivate an engaging  team culture of communication, networking, fun, career development, and driving excellence throughout the Finance Business
  • Develop team members through emphasis on mentoring/coaching and career development goals/planning. Look for opportunities to enhance their spheres of responsibility and giving opportunity for new experiences
  • Continually review succession planning for key/critical roles

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • 8+  years of experience in business Finance, financial analysis, and/or accounting
  • 5+ years of people management experience, with proven ability to lead, motivate, coach and influence team members that are part of a matrixed organization.
  • Prior experience with Hyperion and Oracle systems
  • Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Excel and solid proficiency in the other Microsoft Office suite (Power Point, Word).
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Solid quantitative, written, and presentation skills

  • A natural inclination to look for solutions, to methodically evaluate a situation and provide positive recommendations, and drive issues through to successful conclusion/resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Extensive experience in financial modeling, target setting, performance measurement, strategic planning and business case development.
  • Adept at forging strong relationships within a matrix environment; collaborative work style.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretive skills, intellectual rigor and an ability to think independently, and outside the box.
  • An unquestionable ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and time pressures
  • Self-confident and outgoing, with a straight forward personality.
  • Comfortable working with very sensitive data and able maintain a high degree of discretion.
  • Professional and personal integrity



  • CPA/CFA or MBA preferred
