Reporting to the Senior Director, Tax this role participate in all facets of the income tax function and will play a critical role through leadership of the income tax provision, compliance processes, and audit activity. The individual will ensure accurate and timely preparation of ASC 740 workpapers for the CDK Global group. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the income tax provision process.  Interact on a day to day basis with the outsourcing firm.  Manage work performed by internal staff.  Review supporting work papers for the quarterly and annual tax provision including book-tax differences and tax footnote disclosures.  Ensure OneSource Tax Provision software is optimized.  
  • Manage the income tax and franchise tax compliance by working with outsourcing firm and internal staff. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the federal and state consolidated returns and workpapers, separate state tax returns and workpapers, and quarterly estimated payments.
  • Identify and communicate potential uncertain tax positions.
  • Manage state apportionment including analyzing state apportionment data and research state apportionment rules to ensure compliance with state laws.
  • Coordinate federal and state income tax audits, prepare and review responses to audit inquiries and communicate audit progression to management.  Manage work for audits performed by in-house staff.
  • Research tax issues and communicate conclusions and recommendations to management through written technical memos.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within the compliance and provision process, especially with respect to utilization of technology.
  • Identify and pursue all feasible tax savings opportunities and minimize corporate tax liability for these taxes based analysis of applicable substantial authority for positions.
  • Improve upon processes and internal controls. Manage SOX compliance for this functional area.
  • Assist on M&A activities including coordination of integration activities.
  • Assist the Senior Director, Tax in maintaining current relationships with external consultants as well as the relationships with other finance teams with whom we collaborate

Qualifications / Experience

  • BS in finance or accounting required.
  • Master’s degree in taxation or CPA is a plus.
  • 10+ years’ relevant corporate tax experience, in either a corporation and/or public accounting firm;
  • 5+ years’ intensive experience in ASC 740 is required.
  • Experience with OneSource Returns and OneSource Provision is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, interface with business, comm complex tax issues
  • Operational and business/commercial tax skills
