Position Summary

The lead accountant will partner with the shared service accounting team to ensure excellence in core ledger responsibilities, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.  The subject matter is centered on accounting and forecasting for corporate functions, people costs including equity compensation, and treasury.  The lead accountant coordinates with CDK’s external auditors, tax department, financial reporting group, and technical accounting team to apply accounting policy and generate superior quality analysis.  Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role mentors, guides and reviews the work product of the local and shared service accounting teams.  The lead accountant is a change agent continuously enhancing process and improving the control environment.

 

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions

  • Partner with the accounting, finance, and financial systems team to implement the new Oracle ERP Cloud system, including GL and Consolidations (FCCS)
    1. Support setup, development and testing of FCCS
    2. Assist with data conversion and mappings from HFM to FCCS
    3. Assist with data mappings from sources outside of Oracle Cloud
    4. Design processes to support consolidations, including cash flow, intercompany and translations
    5. Support design and setup of financial reports required for external reporting
    6. Ensures the integrity of the consolidated financial statements and their compliance with GAAP
    7. Design Sox controls around new processes
  • Monthly accounting close
    1. Partner with the shared service accounting team to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of the general ledger
    2. Support and provide monthly analysis to business partners
  • Review complex account reconciliations and perform balance sheet analysis
    1. Review reconciliations performed by the shared service accounting team to certify compliance with accounting policy
    2. Provide detailed analysis of balance sheet fluctuations and trends
    3. Develop schedules and insights for planning and external reporting
  • Establish, modify, document and coordinate the implementation of accounting and control procedures and efficiencies as necessary to meet established company goals
    1. Coordinate audit requests for external and internal auditors
    2. Develop, document, and apply accounting policies and procedures
  • Forecasting, including complex modeling and interactions with reporting teams to collect business data elements and convey results of "what-if" analysis
  • Support internal and external reporting processes
  • Special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Strong data analysis and Excel modeling skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong technical accounting skills (USGAAP), particularly in public company reporting
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA candidate, preferred but not required
  • 5+ years experience in public (Big 4 or regional firm) or corporate accounting
  • Supervisory experience preferred

 

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES & Qualifications

  • Oracle EBS or Oracle Cloud experience preferred
  • HFM experience preferred
  • Systems implementation experience preferred, business side
