We are looking for a customer centric, articulate, and high energy Business Intelligence lead for our Internal Data & Analytics team. This role will act as an advocate and coach for stakeholders solving business problems with BI tools and data, and as a development lead for Tableau and other tools/technologies (currently Alteryx, Cognos, Oracle, AWS).  Builds and refines BI operating model, creates and educates on best practices, leads Tableau Server administration and development efforts, and supports business community through data centric project engagements, support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

In this capacity, you would:

  • Manage and mature our self-service analytics operating model through stakeholder engagement, application of best practices, security administration, and build of governance frameworks for users, data sources, and content creation/promotion.
  • Support Tableau Server as well as Alteryx user community by administering these applications within the Global IT organization and Internal Data & Analytics team.
  • Consult on data and data visualization development, mainly with Tableau, but also in building proper data infrastructure within existing data warehouse (Oracle), future state analytics platform (AWS), and with Alteryx where applicable.
  • Lead development projects and occasionally develop Tableau dashboards.
  • Provide or coordinate coaching and capability seeding within the business for Tableau and Alteryx.  Also help shape demand and solution delivery in transition to future state data & analytics solutions within AWS.
  • Connect with customers to analyze their use cases, data, metrics, and process characteristics.  Assist with definition of business problems and identify solution opportunities.
  • Conduct research, needs assessments, and feasibility studies to identify patterns, provide insights, & align solutions to IT initiatives.
  • Create mock ups and user stories to document reporting requirements.
  • Help define, prioritize, and manage development including engagement with product owners, management of agile scrum in conjunction with team, and by supporting roadmap with leadership.
  • Partner with business data analyst leads to inform on best practices and assist them with content development, management, and user community education.
  • Help present development progress and findings to stakeholders.
  • Consult on business implications of data, metrics, KPIs & targets.
  • Create, review and deliver documentation as necessary to support reporting and analysis project work.
  • Perform market research on data management, reporting and analytic methods and tools to improve service to the customer.

We realize that everyone’s situation is unique, however our general guidelines for requirements include:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in business and/or data analysis, business intelligence, and software development with a proven track record of requirements management and project implementation success
  • Direct development an administration experience with Tableau a must.  Must also be proficient with SQL.  Alteryx, Oracle database, and AWS data tools and technology experience also beneficial.
  • Proven ability to define and articulate a vision, set goals, develop & execute strategies and measure results
  • Experience participating in cross department efforts by communicating and negotiating with multiple teams to accomplish goals
  • Experience developing user stories and managing backlogs an agile software development environment
  • Experience engaging teams composed of both Onsite and Offshore team members
  • Ability to problem solve, iteratively & incrementally improving products and processes
  • Strong communication skills
    • Can explain, document, and clearly give direction to team members and customers at the appropriate level of detail. 
    • Is a good listener and facilitator capable of managing projects
    • Understands business context and can shape demand, build narratives, and translating complexity (business to development and technical to non-technical & executive)
  • Understands data structures and modern BI principles
  • Considers data quality, accuracy, and truth in reporting fundamental and critical for success
  • Is passionate about data and problem solving and driven to achieve great results for customers
  • Aspires to present data in compelling and insightful ways with cutting edge data visualizations
