The Sr. Director, Compensation is responsible for leading the design, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of CDK’s compensation programs including base salary, incentive compensation, and long-term incentives. Partners with senior leadership to ensure that the compensation design, communication and administration supports CDK’s short-term and long-term business objectives. Compensation programs include broad-based, executive and equity compensation design and implementation. Play the primary business partner leader role for the business in providing “outside in” innovative and consultative approach to compensation and administration. Manages, coach and develops a team of compensation professionals to meet the business strategy needs. Facilitates in the preparing of Board materials and relevant leadership meetings.

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of compensation programs.
  • Works with senior leadership to develop functional strategies to support the short-term and long-term needs of the business.
  • Design and execute on competitive and strategy aligned compensation programs (including all components of pay)
  • Design and implement broad-based, equity and executive compensation programs
  • Prepares materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Work to ensure that compensation programs and policy are applicable to the current CDK business environment
  • Partner with business partners, talent management, talent acquisition and other HR areas to ensure that compensation programs are aligned across HR
  • Direct, mentor and coach the compensation staff to effective compensation approaches and processes    
  • Recommend and manage annual salary increase and bonus process, including budgets, by collecting market data (general, industry specific, geographic) and model budget proposals. Provide guidelines for linking salary increases to performance levels.
  • Develop and facilitate manager training on how to make and communicate salary decisions to employees.
  • Align with specific business areas to understand business needs and design, execute and administer appropriate compensation solution.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 15 years of progression compensation leadership experience
  • 6 years of management experience
  • Ability to present clearly and concisely
  • Strategic orientation
  • Knowledge and of compensation administration and design
  • Executive compensation experience
  • Experience administering focal review or year-end process
  • Analytical skills and detail orientation
  • Experience designing and executing large scale compensation program changes
  • Experience with compensation design and administration
