What is the purpose of role?

 

You’ll be the HR lead for the defined country/countries, building trusted and effective relationships within the business to enable the smooth operation of people practices. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. Ensure that all HR activity, policies and process are in line with local legislative requirements and the operating standards of the HR organisation and support local line managers to effectively deliver on their responsibilities for the proper execution of HR practices. Support the HRD’s and COE’s to deliver and embed the full range of people activity in the allocated country/countries. The HR Manager provides the day-to-day performance management guidance to the business’s management personnel through coaching, career development, counselling, and disciplinary actions.

This role is responsible for feeding local requirements and considerations into the formation and development of CDK International wide HR strategy and detailed plans, then for working closely with the local business to ensure they are then effectively adopted and embedded.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • You’ll be responsible for delivering a high quality, customer focused, efficient local HR support to the business, working in partnership with the local management team
  • Responsible for the local management of HR policies, processes and HR tools. Working closely with the BSC team and with Technology team and communication, implementation and training within the local business.
  • In Countries where there is a requirement, negotiate, liaise with and update Works Councils and /or Trade Unions and /or Labour Authorities and / or Local Agreements advising the Country General Manager on appropriate actions and approaches to ensure compliance with local laws and wherever possible, good relationships and positive outcomes.  Providing day-to-day leadership to drive the delivery of the business’ HR plans  Assisting in building strong talent pipelines and managing recruitment
  • Act as the expert on local labour laws, ensuring that policies, procedures and guidelines are up to date and meet legislative requirements. Stay abreast of market trends/changes including governmental rulings and ensure that the wider business, HRD’s and COE’s are kept informed.
  • Using experience, skills and knowledge of the HR industry to proactively make an impact in key areas such as change management, organisational design, employee engagement and talent analytics
  • Support the local business and the HR organisation with risk management of employee relations activity and consistent application of the Company’s policies and applicable labour laws. Act as point of escalation for complex cases with the support of the CDK International Legal Organisation.
  • Input into HR process improvement, identifying opportunities to improve existing procedures and related tools to meet the requirements of an evolving HR community
  • Support annual processes, including the annual reward review, performance development process, succession planning and associate engagement survey where required, providing guidance and support on process to management as needed.
  • Promote CDK reward principles across the country/countries including effective direction of Business Managers through the merit review and off cycle process, ensuring that roles are aligned with the internal JAF framework and external benchmarking.
  • Support the Talent organisation in coordination and where required, facilitation of local learning & development and recruitment activity.
  • Coach and mentor local line managers to develop capability and provide the knowledge and tools to enable them to work independently.
  • In Countries where there is a requirement , support the business, CofE and Corporate teams with translation checking of policies or other strategic documentation additionally checking the compliance to local laws
  • Embed continuous improvement into day to day work. Challenge the way we do things to ensure that HR processes are delivered as efficiently, effectively and accurately as possible.
  • Promote the CDK employer brand and local networking with relevant external bodies such as Universities, Colleges, Schools
  • General tasks as required

 

Skills Knowledge and Experience you’ll need:

 

Essential;

 

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent knowledge of local labour legislation
  • Proven ability to manage Employee relations
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar Country HR Manager role / Business Partner role
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity

  •  Travel will be required

  • Proven ability to make sound and rational judgements and decisions
  • Experience of working with local legislative bodies including collective and local agreements where required
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external associates
  • High standard of business English
  • Proven experience working within a matrix management structure and handling multiple activities at the same time
  • Experience in working internationally or for an international business
  • Highly organised with strong planning and time management skills
  • Attention to detail whilst able to set priorities and be flexible in a changing environment
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude, driven by continuous improvement and a desire to generate creative ideas and follow them through

 

Specialist;

 

  • Experience of complex International business areas and reporting lines
  • Experience of working with complex Works Councils and /or Trade Unions and /or Labour Authorities  
  • Experience dealing with complex Exit Management negotiations
  • Experience of Visa applications / requirements and compliance with local regulations
  • Translation and local compliance checks of policies and strategic documentation  
  • Escalation for Senior Managers and employee relations complex issues in the UK Region
  • Complexity of US and India reporting lines and US managers
  • Experience of International best practice of policies and global processes
