Purpose of role

Responsible for leading and managing large complex internal projects to budget, schedule and quality. Leading the work of cross functional physical and virtual teams, this role demands timely and effective communications with project sponsors, internal stakeholders, technical specialists and customers across multiple concurrent projects.The Senior Project Manager is highly organised, articulate, detail-orientated and commercially aware, and able to lead and manage projects effectively. You have a high level of finance literacy and have demonstrable experience of working on finance transformation and continuous improvement programmes. You are energetic, committed and enthusiastic, with the ability to prioritise and take ownership to get the job done well and on time. You support, motivate and inspire others to excel in their performance and achievements, and help them to make a positive contribution to the continuous improvement of project processes.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities –

  • Working with finance stakeholders to understand the scope, operational requirements and impact of projects and creating plans to address these
  • Managing multiple projects concurrently with clear understanding of interdependencies and linkages as a part of the wider finance portfolio of projects
  • Working closely with the finance project team and IT delivery teams to ensure that commitments and deadlines are met
  • Managing risks, issues, actions and dependencies promptly and professionally, escalating to the Programme Manager where necessary
  • Regularly reviewing project scope, costs, performance and business benefits as a part of the wider finance projects portfolio to keep the individual projects on track
  • Communicating project progress and outcomes to the project team, the project steering committee
  • Proactively managing the expectations of stakeholders, delivery teams
  • Maintaining and controlling project documentation and systems during, and on completion of the project

Skills / Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience and demonstrable success delivering company Finance function transformation / continuous improvement projects
  • A strong working knowledge of key finance processes (such as Order to Cash, Record to Report, Purchase to Pay, Cash and Bank, Payroll, Forecasting / FP&A), including how they interact to deliver a timely and accurate financial close / forecasting cycle.
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) or equivalent internal controls requirements and other US Accounting Standards and requirements, ASC 605/606 etc.
  • Experience of working in a fast moving and dynamic project environment, ideally for a software development organisation
  • Experience of running complex IT projects involving multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
  • Extensive experience of working with a project management methodology such as PRINCE2 or PMI
  • Knowledge of project planning and management processes, tools and techniques
  • High-level of communication, facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Experience of commercial decision making, commercial awareness
  • Experience of working with MS Office – Project, Excel and Visio
  • Experience of using project management databases and systems
  • EU citizen with current passport and prepared to travel within Europe as required.

 

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Educational qualifications: Master’s degree would be desirable. Bachelor’s degree will be acceptable.
  • Professional Qualifications:
    • PRINCE 2 or PMI Certification: Demonstrable knowledge of standard project management methodology will be preferred
    • Agile project management: A working knowledge of Agile methodology will be desirable
