The Bilingual French/English Field Service Technician I is a field-based, customer-facing role that installs, services, maintains and modifies equipment at our customer sites. We take a holistic approach in solving our customers' toughest problems. Our Field Technicians represent the "Face of CDK" to the customer.  We are seeking positive, hardworking candidates who are a motivated self-started that works well independently with little or no supervision, but who thrives in a team environment. Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Provide field service and customer care for the Ontario and Quebec area dealership clients.
  • 90% local travel 
  • Perform routine and emergency service calls and MAC work (moves, adds, changes).
  • Perform software/hardware installations and upgrades on hardware and applications during regular and non-regular business hours.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve emergency and non-emergency service requests.
  • Proactively identify potential degradation in our clients' systems and equipment
  • Exercise good judgment in troubleshooting activities and when required escalate service issues to Technical Support for resolution.
  • Organize work assignments through a handheld iPhone app dispatch system.
  • Initiate contact with customers to confirm service requests and appointments, must adhere to established client SLA.
  • Complete all necessary administration for inventory, time reporting, and any CDK documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise and site specific knowledge to Sales team when required.
  • Participate in on-call service coverage and work the necessary overtime to meet deadlines.
  • May be requested to travel in or out of Ontario when covering for others on vacation. Will receive enough notice to plan.


Preferred Experience and requirements

  • Bilingual French/English - required
  • Consideration will be given to someone who is new to telecommunications but possesses all other IT and networking requirements.
  • General knowledge of telecommunications equipment, systems and applications.
  • Excellent understanding of PC and server technology (hardware and OS)
  • Excellent understanding of Networking, LAN and TCP/IP.
  • Associate's Degree or some form of Technical Training highly preferred.
  • Obtained or working towards CCNA (or equivalent) certification.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry & transport heavy equipment greater than 50 lbs.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record that meets CDK Global minimum insurance standards is required.
  • Ability to travel in the field 80-90%
