Position Overview:

CDK handles hundreds of millions of phone calls and text messages for our customers, then from that mountain of data extracts the lessons they can use to improve business operations and the consumer experience. As an engineer on this team, you’ll build and grow highly scalable software solutions that intelligently and seamlessly ingest raw data, use a variety of algorithms and machine learning to understand the patterns, trigger alerts, push the information into downstream applications, and present the information to a user.

 

We’re looking for someone with experience as a full-stack developer, but particularly in data analytics. You should be skilled in building systems that reliably and efficiently receive, normalize, augment, translate, correlate, aggregate, summarize, analyze, transfer, and present the data. There’s significant potential and growth in this space for us, so the most successful candidate will be excited to jump in, learn the existing environment, then work with a team to grow and improve it.

 

Responsibilities:

We focus on building quality software in an agile and results-oriented environment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Create sophisticated, imaginative, and efficient front- and back­end solutions for large-scale complex applications.
  • Develop high-quality code, following and reinforcing development standards and practice by example.
  • Design reusable components by utilizing various standard frameworks.
  • Work with product owners to evaluate requirements and create a task backlog.
  • Make technology recommendations that support optimal construction, maintenance, and performance.
  • Collaborate with other development teams inside and outside the company to leverage their capabilities and share ours.
  • Work with global and cross-functional teams like Operations, Support, Sales, etc.
  • Have a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship in your work.

 

Experience:

Qualified candidates will generally have 5+ years of software development experience, including:

  • Diverse and complicated environments that employ different technologies to solve different problems.
  • SQL (ideally, MS SQL), Spark, Hadoop, and related data storage and analysis infrastructure.
  • Node.js, .NET, and other server-side programming language and an interest in learning.
  • Web development languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; and frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Building APIs for data exchange.
  • Connecting front-end components with back-end logic through asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, AJAX, etc.
  • Designing distributed systems for scalability and fault tolerance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Test-driven development in an agile software environment.
  • DevOps and software deployment concepts using technologies like Docker, Puppet, Kubernetes, AWS, Bamboo, and Terraform.
  • Technical documentation of software deliverables through use cases, design documents and technical specifications.

 

Education:

  • A BS in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
